MAGUS CHD40 is a camera model for integration with a microscope. The camera shoots in 4K resolution (3840x2160px) and can automatically convert the image to Full HD (1920x1080px) if required by an external monitor. The device is equipped with three types of interfaces: HDMI for connecting to a TV, monitor, or projector as well as USB3.0 and Wi-Fi for connecting to a computer. The frame rate is 30fps regardless of the connection type. The camera features built-in software that, in addition to taking photos and videos, enables you to edit the image and even take measurements of the object being observed. The device generates a high-quality image without delays or tearing, and the object is visible clearly, without distortion, even if it is in motion.
Sensor
Inside the camera is a SONY Starvis color CMOS sensor. These sensors use back-illumination technology that provides high light sensitivity with a small matrix size. The sensor size in the MAGUS CHD40 camera is 1/1.2" with a pixel size of 2.9x2.9μm. The device’s light sensitivity is 1028mV at a shutter speed of 1/30 second: The camera can take high-quality pictures in low light conditions. To get an extremely wide field of view without deformations, use an adapter with a magnification of 0.75x–1x.
Software
The camera is ready for use thanks to a set of applications (comes with built-in software and software installed from the included software CD). It can take photographs, record video, measure linear and angular dimensions of objects and their structures, and edit images. To take measurements, be sure to first calibrate the software for each objective using a calibration slide. You can connect the camera to a TV, monitor, or projector via the HDMI interface as well as to a computer via the USB3.0 or Wi-Fi interface. Connection using HDMI or USB interfaces generates an image with 4K resolution; a Full HD image is created when connected to a computer using a Wi-Fi adapter.
Pairing with other devices
The camera supports additional devices. You can connect a mouse (included) to the USB connector. Working with it will prevent vibrations that occur when directly interacting with the device. You can save the research results on the included SD card or on a flash drive. You can connect one of the special MAGUS monitors, which are mounted directly on the camera and create a complete visualization system.
Microscope installation
There are two ways to install the camera on the microscope: in the trinocular tube or in the eyepiece tube. In both cases, you will need the C-mount adapter from the microscope kit to connect the devices. An adapter ring for the diameter of the tube is also used for installation in the eyepiece tube.
