Shell construction
All Monaco binoculars have sturdy shells, resistant to shock and impact, made of durable plastic that withstands rain, snow and sudden temperature changes. These shells are extremely lightweight, yet still reliably protect the intricate optics from potential hazards. The interior of these shells is filled with nitrogen, which prevents lenses from fogging. The rubber armor provides for a firm and comfortable grip on these binoculars at all times.

Usability
Levenhuk Monaco binoculars are manufactured with quality and ease of use in mind, so that every added feature makes them even more appealing.
- Twist-up rubber eyecups allow you to use these binoculars while wearing eyeglasses. These eyecups also reduce light pollution during observations on sunny days. Unlike regular fold-down eyecups, these eyecups can be easily adjusted for observations with eyeglasses or without. If you are not wearing eyeglasses, you can extend the eyecups by rotating them, which will bring your eyes closer to the lens, thus improving the field of view. The eyecups may be extended and locked in one of three preset positions. It is recommended to observe objects with eyecups fully extended, which corresponds to the eye relief of the optical system.
- Two clips on the barrels allow you to attach the carrying strap to the binoculars.
- Diopter adjustment ring allows you to adjust the optical system to better suit your eyesight. You can also easily alter the interpupillary distance of the binoculars.
-
The central focusing wheel allows you to refocus your view with ease when changing the observation object, without having to worry about diopter adjustment. The short close focus means you can observe even nearby objects.
-
The durable waterproof shell protects the optics from high humidity, which means you can use these binoculars on water. Levenhuk Monaco binoculars may be mounted on a tripod for additional stability during observations.
- The kit of all Levenhuk Monaco binoculars (except for Monaco 10x25 model) includes protective caps for objective lenses and eyepieces, a nylon pouch and a cleaning wipe, so that you can take these binoculars on your travels and properly care for them throughout the journey.
- To reduce light reflectivity, the interior of the barrels is blackened. Objective lenses are held in place by a thin ring, which may be loosened or tightened, if need be. Keep in mind that overtightening the lenses may lead to aberrations. Every optical surface is coated with a thick green-blue coating.

Binoculars adjustments
Interpupillary distance
Interpupillary distance is the distance between your eyes, which is different for everyone. Simply do the following to adjust the interpupillary distance of your binoculars:
- Observe any object through the binoculars;
- Hold both barrels firmly and either push them closer or pull them apart until you see a single image through the eyepieces. For maximum viewing comfort, you should adjust interpupillary distance before every observation. Most binoculars have a scale on the barrel bridge to make such adjustments even easier.
Central focusing and diopter adjustment
- Rotate the right eyepiece into the default position and look at a distant object.
- Close the right objective lens with your hand and rotate the central focusing wheel until the image in the left eyepiece is in focus. Keep both eyes open throughout this step.
- Close the left objective lens with your hand and rotate the right eyepiece until the image is in focus.
- This adjusts the optical system to your eyesight, making it easier to focus on objects. Memorize or write down the diopter value for future use.

Keep in mind that as the field of view increases, more and more aberrations are present during observations. Therefore, if you value image quality, I would recommend choosing binoculars with the eye relief of 4 mm.
As a stargazing enthusiast, I would opt for either the 15x56 or the 10x52. The image below showcases the field of view of various models.
Choosing the correct binoculars
The design of binoculars allows you to observe distant objects with maximum comfort. The higher the magnification of the instrument, the more details you are able to see. However, lower magnification means a wider field of view. For observations in twilight, the exit pupil has to be high, and vice versa. This is because human pupils dilate in the dark and contract in the light.
With binoculars, you can explore the vast expanse of space, natural phenomena and man-made objects. Breathtaking night clouds, stunning northern lights and Milky Way stars, are just a few things you can observe with your binoculars. The images below provide you with an idea of things to look out for during your travels across the evening skies. Keep in mind that binoculars will never yield similar results, as these are long-exposure shots, captured with a professional camera. Hopefully, though, these images will inspire you to explore the world around you and see just how beautiful it truly is.
Two of the most powerful binoculars in the lineup allow you to observe large diffuse clusters, starfields, as well as moonrises and moonsets. With enough light, you can study night clouds, thunderheads, northern lights and much, much more.
